Raewyn Good Study Award recipient announced

Cassandra Lewis, University of Waikato

Cassandra Lewis, a Bachelor of Social Sciences student at the University of Waikato, has been awarded the 2018 Raewyn Good Study Award for Māori and Pasifika Social Science Research.

Cassandra has been awarded the scholarship to assist with her project “Barriers to the foundation-housing discrimination and wahine resilience”.

The award was established in the memory of the late Raewyn Good. Raewyn Good was an activist and a researcher in the social sciences. She was active in the Royal Society Te Apārangi Council and was an integral member of the Societies Social Sciences Advisory Committee. 

The study award is available for one year to students who at are engaged, enrolled or applying for a Master’s degree that undertakes social sciences research at any New Zealand university or wānanga. The award includes a cash grant of $6,000.
