How Companions are elected
Potential Companions are nominated by at least two (and up to five) nominators for people that meet the criteria. Nominations are considered by the Academy Executive Committee who make recommendations to the Council of Royal Society Te Apārangi about who should be elected to Companionship.
Further information is available below on the criteria for election as a Companion (CRSNZ), the nomination process and the consideration process.
Note: Individuals cannot apply to become Companions (or Fellows); these are honours that must be awarded. If you’re interested in becoming involved with the Society, we encourage you to learn about applying to become a Member of the Society, find information on becoming a Member here.
