The Hector Medal is awarded annually for research involving chemical, physical, and mathematical and information sciences, to the researcher who, working within New Zealand, has undertaken work of great scientific or technological merit and has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of knowledge.

The medal will not normally be awarded for research involving the same discipline two years in a row.

Current status

The 2024 round is now closed. Nominations will open again in January 2025.
