Advantages of the read and publish agreement
This agreement supports equitable access. Researchers from participating institutions will all have the same access to this agreement and be able to publish their work open access, free of charge. It applies to researchers at any stage in their career, including students, early career researchers or those without independent funding.
- Corresponding authors from institutions listed under 'Participating institutions' may publish immediately to open access on the publisher's platform once the article has been accepted, with no transactional Article Processing Charges (APCs).
- Articles from authors at participating institutions may be published under the authors' choice of either CC-BY, CC-BY-NC, or CC-BY-NC-ND.
- Authors retain copyright. The Creative Commons licenses allow reuse (some with conditions) while protecting the authors' rights of acknowledgment as authors.
For your article submission to qualify for Open Access under the terms of the agreement, you must be the corresponding author and affiliated with a participating institution (use an institutional email address when submitting your article in the journal’s submission system).
The complete details of the read and publish agreement including the annual cap on article numbers are available on the CAUL website. View the webpage to see if you are eligible.
