The Royal Society Te Apārangi welcomed two new Affiliate Organisation members this month. Council confirmed the membership of the Environmental Protection Authority and the New Zealand Association for Impact Assessment on 26th September.
Affiliate Organisation membership is established under S15 of the Royal Society of New Zealand Act 1997 and then covered in the Rules of the Society at S2.6. An Affiliate Organisation is one that is willing and able to subscribe to the objects of the Society, is normally a non-profit body and have a demonstrable and unique role within New Zealand supporting the public interest in relation to any of science, technology or the humanities.
