Submission on Traditional Chinese Medicine
2011: The Ministry of Health requested comments on their Proposal that Traditional Chinese Medicine Become a Regulated Profession under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003. The Society, representing the expertise of its members, produced this submission in response to raise a number of issues with the Ministry of Health.
he Society’s submission does not endorse the clinical effectiveness of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), however it recognises that people are using it as a form of health service in New Zealand. As TCM has the potential to cause harm it will be important to ensure that TCM practitioners are regulated in order to ensure that they are responsible and clinically well qualified.
