Science as a Public Enterprise – Response to IAP and the Royal Society of London
2011: The Society responded to a call from the Interacademies Panel and the Royal Society of London on the public use of scientific data.
They are exploring how scientific information is made public, shared and used to support innovative and productive research, and how that process is affected by public values. The Royal Society of New Zealand responded both as the national academy of New Zealand and as the host body for Creative Commons Aotearoa NZ.
The result of this consultation was the Science as an open enterprise report from the Royal Society of London, which recommends greater openness, recognition of the value of data sharing, common standards for sharing and reusability, and the development of more expertise, capabilities, and tools to achieve this.
