Rituparna Roy
2024: Dr Rituparna Roy of Te Whare Wānanga o Waikato University of Waikato will study why political measures are failing to address ethnic pay inequities
Focusing on the pay gap as an empirical case study, Dr Roy will investigate the broader politics of ethnic inequity and how to overcome it. This will involve examining how multiple axes of power, like colonial legacy and contemporary neoliberal forces, intersect to shape responses to ethnic inequities. This research will advance theoretical understandings of racial justice. It will have significant socio-economic impacts by transforming how ethnic pay inequity is perceived and addressed.
