Interviews

Interviews for the 2024 Mana Tūānuku Research Leader Fellowship are scheduled for 25-27 November 2024.

Interview structure:

The interview will last for approximately 25 minutes in duration and will have the following broad structure.

  • Welcome and introductions
  • Ten minutes for you to outline your proposal. If you would like to, you can use a slide presentation for this. You can present up to six PowerPoint slides (with the first one being a title slide).
Please note that excessive use of overlaid data on a slide, which in essence means that a slide is more than one slide, may not be well appreciated by the Interview Panel.
During this time, it would be advisable to address the three criteria below:
    • Applicant’s calibre as a research leader
    • Applicant’s track record and potential to establish, re-enter or progress their career in research
    • The clear articulation of a research plan with high likelihood to deliver research outcomes
  •  For the remainder of the interview the panel will engage with you in a question-and-answer format. The interview will have an informal style.

We encourage you to remind yourself of the background and objectives for the New Zealand Mana Tūānuku Research Leader Fellowships, which include the general terms of reference for the Aotearoa New Zealand Tāwhia te Mana Research Fellowships. See here.

For your information, there are 20 candidates being interviewed, of which about 10 will be selected to receive a Mana Tūānuku Research Leader Fellowship.
