Full proposals (Fast-Start and Standard)
Information on our annual funding round process for full proposals (Fast-Start and Standard applications)
Full proposals include more detailed descriptions of project aims, background and methods to be used. Like the preliminary round, proposals are submitted via the electronic application portal. Once received, they are sent to external referees for review. Applicants are then given the opportunity to respond to comments from the referees. Panel members consider the full proposals together with referees’ reports and applicants’ responses. Funding recommendations are presented to the Marsden Fund Council and then to the Royal Society of New Zealand Council for approval. Applicants are notified of funding decisions in October and contract negotiations are initiated. The full proposal round has a success rate of approximately 45%.
