Introducing Marsden at 30
Ka whakanuia te rangahau
Celebrating 30 years of the Marsden Fund.
Thirty years ago, the New Zealand government established the Marsden Fund to support investigator-led research. Since then, it has driven world-class research in New Zealand by supporting and incentivising excellent researchers to work on their best and boldest ideas, leading to new knowledge, skills and global connections, with the potential for significant downstream impact for Aotearoa.
Professor Gill Dobbie FRSNZ, Marsden Fund Council Chair said,
“New Zealand’s leading and emerging researchers are supported by the Marsden Fund to explore new ideas that may not be funded through other funding streams.
This fosters creativity and innovation within the science, innovation and technology system, and after thirty years, we’re seeing how these best and boldest ideas continue to create opportunities.
In this anniversary year, we look forward to celebrating curiosity-driven research and the inspiring projects and people supported by the Fund.”
