CREST to Road Safety

A CREST opportunity to assist with road safety.

In New Zealand, child pedestrian injuries is a leading cause of traffic related child deaths. According to the UN and the World Health Organisation (WHO), more than 5,000 pedestrians are killed on the world’s roads each week. Many of those killed are children walking to and from schools.

CREST to Road Safety

Considering the Science and Technology curricula, complete a CREST project that will assist with road safety:

  • For a First CREST award: Devise and test a simple and effective educational game for preschoolers that teaches them about road safety.
  • For a Bronze CREST award: Devise and test an effective product that reminds older siblings and adults about what they can do to teach children,or remind adults, about road safety.
