Speaker: Professor Richard Bedford, President Royal Society Te Apārangi

"Royal Society of New Zealand Te Apārangi supports other Commonwealth academies of science in this Consensus Statement on Climate Change.

Our three recent scientific reports on climate change in New Zealand agree that we must all take urgent action now if we are to avoid the worst impacts of climate change, and here in the south pacific we note the particular vulnerability of our pacific island neighbours to a changing climate and sea level rise.

Furthermore, there are other potential benefits and opportunities for moving to low carbon economies and lifestyles, so let’s take action now on climate change."
