The beautifully named 'Astrophiura kohurangi' McKnight, 1975 which means 'rare treasure' in Māori, was described from a single animal from near New Caledonia.

This stunning specimen photographed onboard NIWA’s R/V Tangaroa in 2012 was collected on the Colville Ridge north of New Zealand and is only the second ever collected of this species. The animal is ~ 1cm across its disc.
