Use your local Companion

18 of the 40 CRSNZ holders

Over the years, the Society has appointed some 40 Companions for their outstanding leadership or eminent contributions to promoting and advancing science, technology or the humanities.

Late last year, the Society and Companions agreed that they would be well qualified to contribute to the Society's networking in providing a bridge to wider community interests. For example, Society expert papers are not an end-point in themselves, but need continued support if their views are to reach government and the wider community. A point in question might be the Society's current initiative to invite public feedback on gene editing. Much of the discussion would likely involve ethical questions - and a possible use of available Companions as discussion chairs/facilitators if Society Branches and other organisations want to delve further into the issue. If your Branch or Association is thinking of such a step, try involving a friendly Companion!
