Gender Diversity Group
The Gender Diversity Group set up by Royal Society Te Apārangi held its first meeting on 12 December 2017.
At this first meeting there was discussion on the purpose of the group and a Draft Terms of Reference was considered. It was agreed that there is a vacuum in leadership potential around diversity and that the Society could take a lead and address issues internally and externally across the research sector.
The next step is for the group to confirm Terms of Reference and produce a workplan that breaks down and prioritises the various tasks that need to be achieved to reduce barriers to genuinely equitable processes and improve the participation of under-represented groups, with a primary focus on gender.
The next meeting is tentatively set for late February.
