Fellowship – Changes to Selection Process

On 1 November the Fellowship Selection Committee (which consists of an expanded Academy Executive Committee of about 26 Fellows to ensure coverage of all disciplines of highly recommended nominees for Fellowship and Honorary Fellowship selection) will meet to discuss the highly recommended nominees from all 13 discipline-based Fellowship Evaluation Panels, and from the Academy Executive Panel.

The Fellowship Selection Committee receives all the documentation for the highly recommended nominees via a portal, and selects the nominees who will be recommended to the Academy Executive Committee as the new Fellows and Honorary Fellows for that year. Nominees are discussed from a random list and blind voting takers place.

Nominees are selected on individual merit alone--there is no quota allocation between the different disciplines and geographical areas. Up to 20 Fellows may be elected this year.
