Research grants
The Academy oversees a number of research scholarships and awards, using the Fellowship to assess applications. Thirty-three applications were made to the Charles Fleming Senior Scientist Award, Charles Fleming Publishing Award, Hutton Fund and Skinner Funds.
This year, the research grants overseen by the Academy include:

31 March | Charles Fleming Senior Scientist Award - Annual research grant worth up to $10,000 to support the research of a senior scientist at a university, Crown Research Institute, polytechnic or other research organisation in New Zealand, and that of their research group. |
31 March | Charles Fleming Publishing Award - Annual award worth up to $8,000 to support the preparation of scientific books and relevant publications. |
31 March | Hutton Fund - Funding of $1,000 per application encouraging research in New Zealand zoology, botany and geology. |
31 March | Skinner Fund - Funding of $1,000 per application encouraging research in the study of the history, art, culture, physical and social anthropology of the Māori and other Polynesian peoples |
30 June | Leonard Cockayne Lecture Award - Public lecture tour + $2500, for the encouragement of botanical research in New Zealand. |
31 August | RHT Bates Postgraduate Scholarship - Study award of $6,000 for a PhD in the Physical Sciences and Engineering in a New Zealand university. |
31 August | Raewyn Good Study Award for Māori and Pasifika Social Science Research - Study award of $6,000 for Māori and Pasifika postgraduate student undertaking a Master’s which involves social sciences research. |
