Medal and Fellowship nominations
The Rutherford Medal, a prestigious award presented by the Society to recognise eminent research, scholarship, or innovation, was opened up to include humanities scholarship in the fields of recognition, following a request by the Society to the Government.
This change has been made to recognise the widening of the object and functions of the Society under our Act, with the inclusion of the humanities, so that now this prestigious award is open to all disciplines covered by the Act.
Deadlines for medal and Fellowship nominations were also extended this year due to the Covid-19 disruptions.
The Academy received over 60 nominations for the medals available this year, which is similar to last year, and there are over 140 Fellowship nominations in the pool for consideration this year, with over 30 added to the pool this year so far.
The deadline for Fellowship nominations is now 30 June.
