The MacDiarmid Institute’s 2019 Regional Innovation Showcase - Nelson
Come and hear MacDiarmid Institute scientists talk about how materials science is offering a greener future for our planet.
The MacDiarmid Institute’s 2019 Regional Innovation Showcase will be coming to Nelson on 4th September and this year’s theme is “NZ Innovation for Sustainability” – it will be looking at how materials science can offer a greener future for our planet and will look at topics such as our zero carbon future and a renewable economy, and how we can achieve these. Our speakers for this event are: Dr Natalie Plank and Dr Matthew Cowan. Dr Natalie Plank is Lecturer at the Victoria University of Wellington and a Principal Investigator at the MacDiarmid Institute. Her current research is focussed on developing 'lab on a chip' biosensors to detect hormones from a pinprick of blood. Dr Matthew Cowan is a chemical engineer at the University of Canterbury and an Associate Investigator at the MacDiarmid Institute. His current research is focused on saving energy by improving separations technology. The event will take place on Wednesday 4th September at 7:30pm, in Beachside Conference & Events Centre, 70 Beach Road, Tahunanui, Nelson 7011. It will have a panel format with a presentation from our speakers and plenty of time for questions from the audience. The series will also be visiting other locations around New Zealand, including Napier, Tauranga, Wanaka and Queenstown, and these will be advertised in due course. For any queries, please contact MacD-Admin@vuw.ac.nz.
