POSTPONED Energy: what's possible, what's not | Wellington

POSTPONED
Presented by The MacDiarmid Institute in partnership with Royal Society Te Apārangi

*** POSTPONED as Professor Nocera wasn't going to make it to New Zealand in time due to circumstances beyond his control. We look forward to instead presenting this public lecture early next year. Thanks!

We’re putting the brakes on the use of fossil fuels, but is the renewable energy revolution ready for the demands of seven billion humans and rising? Will nuclear energy be necessary to tide us over? What are the implications for New Zealand?

Professor Daniel Nocera is a pioneer in energy conversion, with a focus on the generation of solar fuels. He is best known for inventing an Artificial Leaf (which uses solar power to split water and make hydrogen fuel), and subsequently, co-creating a Bionic Leaf.

Daniel is an American sustainable energy expert, chemist, and currently the Patterson Rockwood Professor of Energy in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University. He is a member of The MacDiarmid Institute Science Advisory Board and often advises governments and industry on developments in the energy sector.
