Communicating the science of Antarctica to the world

Megan Martin from Antarctica NZ will discuss how she focuses on promoting New Zealand’s leading-edge Antarctic scientists and their research to the world.

Antarctica New Zealand is the government agency charged with carrying out New Zealand’s activities in Antarctica; supporting world leading science and environmental protection. 

In the last summer alone, Antarctica NZ and Scott Base supported a diverse range of scientific activity including the major drilling programme on the Ross Ice Shelf, investigating microscopic life in the McMurdo Dry Valleys, diving through the sea ice to the seabed of McMurdo Sound, as well as important marine zoological, oceanographic and meteorological research.
