Branch event: Antarctic Heritage Trust

Tuesday 22 August | Rotorua

Through its mission to conserve, share and encourage the spirit of exploration the Antarctic Heritage Trust cares for the remarkable expedition bases of early Antarctic explorers including Captain Robert Falcon Scott, Sir Ernest Shackleton and Sir Edmund Hillary. It shares the legacy of exploration through outreach programmes and encourages the spirit of exploration through expeditions to engage and inspire a new generation. Lizzie Meek is the Programme Manager-Artefacts for the Trust. For the last ten years Lizzie has led and worked with teams of conservation professionals at the five expedition sites, to date completing the conservation of over 20,000 artefacts. Her presentation will take you on a visual journey to the huts and the cold-climate conservation project that has kept them from major loss.
