Call for papers for special issue of the NZJGG: Oligocene-earliest Miocene palaeogeography of New Zealand

The New Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics is calling for papers for a special issue to be published in March 2014 on the ‘Oligocene-earliest Miocene palaeogeography of New Zealand’ to be guest edited by Catherine Reid (University of Canterbury), Cam Nelson (University of Waikato), Dallas Mildenhall (GNS), Daphne Lee (University of Otago) and Kari Bassett (University of Canterbury).

This issue will address topics in sedimentology, palaeontology and tectonics from the Oligocene and earliest Miocene of New Zealand and the Chatham Islands that contribute to the understanding of the palaeogeography of New Zealand during this crucial interval.

We are calling for an expression of interest to get an idea of potential topics and numbers of papers. Please send a preliminary title with authorship and a short descriptive paragraph outlining the scope of your proposed submission by 31 March 2013 to the editorial office of the journal at (  

The papers accepted for submission would be required to be completed and received by 6 July 2013 through the journal’s manuscript submission site at  Earlier submission of manuscripts is encouraged. Manuscript length should ideally be in the range of 5,000-10,000 words.  Note that acceptance for submission does not guarantee acceptance for publication, which will depend on the outcome of normal peer review processes and authors meeting critical time schedules.
